Collection Days

Your collection day for recyclables is the same day as your regular trash collection.See chart and map at the bottom of this page for Recycling Cart Pick-Up & CartDelivery Schedules.

Collection Times

Recyclables and trash must be placed at your curbside in the provided wheeled carts by 7:00am on the day of collection and removed from the curb by 10:00pm on the same day.

Excess Garbage Collection

All garbage, including excess garbage, is collected by the city. According to Shreveport City Guidelines, excess garbage may be placed beside the cart in boxes, bags or cans, but should not exceed 75 pounds. Tree limbs should be cut in four foot lengths and be no more than four inches in diameter, and stacked neatly at the curb.

If you have any bulky items such as appliances or furniture, please call the Shreveport Public Works Division a minimum of one day prior to your collection date so that they may be scheduled for collection.

Backdoor Garbage Collection

Backdoor garbage collection is provided free of charge to handicapped residents living alone. A doctor’s certificate is required. Please call Shreveport Public Works at 318.673.6300 for more information. Backdoor collection is for household recyclables only; any yard waste or bulky items must be placed at the curbside.
