Single-stream recycling requires very little effort, making it one of the easiest ways you can go green and another step towards making it one of the easiest ways Shreveport can go green!

With our curbside recycling program, you don’t have to separate recyclable materials. Simply fill your blue cart and park it at the curb on collection day, and all the sorting is done by Pratt Industries at its Material Recovery Facility (MRF).
 


All Shreveport residents are provided a 64-gallon, blue recycling cart.
Put all recyclable materials into blue cart.
Recycling is collected every week on the same day as trash collection.



 
 

 

What Did We Recycle Our First Year?

  • 6,506 tons mixed paper

  • 300 tons of PET plastic

  • 171 tons HDPE plastic

  • 86 tons Aluminum UBC

  • 86 tons steel cans

  • 600 tons glass

What Are The Benefits of Just One Year of Recycling?

  • We Prevented 9000 tons of Green House Gas (GHG) emissions

  • We saved more than 110,000 trees

  • We prevented a total of 8,560 tons of waste from going to our landfill

  • With our current projections for 2009, the citizens of Shreveport, through their recycling efforts,will have avoided more than $250,000 in landfill fees in just the first two years!
